Virtual Author Talk: Not Funny with Jena Friedman
In her debut collection, comedian and filmmaker Friedman takes on the third rails of modern life in her bold and subversive style, with essays that explore cancel culture, sexism, work, celebrity worship, and…dead baby jokes. The Library Land Project
Do you love libraries? Greg Peverill-Conti, Executive Director of the Library Land Project, does too! Greg has visited over 400 libraries across the US. Join us for a fun presentation on the role today’s libraries play in their community and hear about some of the libraries he loves. Singing Frogs with the Mass Audubon
Frogs can be a strong indicator of environmental health. Author Talk: Kwan Kew Lai and The Girl Who Taught Herself to Fly

Gardening Book Sale
The Friends of the Wayland Library will hold a pop-up gardening book sale at the Wayland Garden Club’s Plant Sale at the Town Building. Donate your gardening books on the first floor of the library until the day before the sale. Saturday, May 20, 9-12 p.m.
Fix It First: Jeans
Bring a pair of jeans and learn how to alter, mend, and customize them instead of getting rid of them. Cambridge School of Weston students will show how to shorten hems; lengthen pockets; take in sides, legs and waist; and fray and apply patches. They’ll also share what they’ve learned about the effects of fast fashion and why “Fix It First” mentality is so important. Register. Saturday, May 20 at 11 a.m.

Outdoor Baby & Toddler Storytime with Ms. Carly
This storytime encourages early literacy and caregiver-child interactions with lively songs and rhymes, bounces, books, and body-awareness. Best for babies and toddlers, with caregiver.
Weather permitting, we will meet outdoors on the green lawn. Tuesdays, May 9, May 16, May 23, and May 30 at 10:30 a.m.
Storytime with Ms. Pam
Join Ms. Pam for stories, songs, puppets, and activities. For ages 2.5 to 5 years with an adult. Please register. We will meet in the Children’s Room. Thursdays, May 11 and May 18, at 10:30 a.m.
Early Childhood Fair with Tom Knight’s Musical Puppets
Learn about the early childhood resources available for Wayland families with young children! Local preschools, the Wayland Library, Family ACCESS Community Connections, WCPA, Park and Rec, and WIC will host tables. Tom Knight and his Musical puppets will perform at 11:00 am. This event takes place at the Hannah Williams Playground, 71 Main Street, Wayland. Saturday, May 20, 10am to 12 pm. Overflow parking is at Cochituate Ball Field and the Town Beach (both walking distance). Rain date is Sunday, May 21.
Storytime with Obie the Dog
