Wayland Police Department Welcomes Two New Officers

WAYLAND — Acting Police Chief Ed Burman is pleased to announce that the Wayland Police Department welcomed two new officers at a swearing-in ceremony yesterday. 

Officers David Fors and Joseph Mancuso were sworn in on Monday, Nov. 14 during a ceremony at the Wayland Public Safety Building.

“I am pleased to welcome David and Joseph to the Wayland Police Department,” Acting Chief Burman said. “Both show extreme promise and a passion for supporting the community, and I am confident that they will be a great asset to Wayland and our residents.” 

Officer David Fors

Officer Fors is a native of Lunenburg. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Fitchburg State University. He graduated from the Fitchburg State University Police Academy in September 2022.

Officer Joseph Mancuso

Officer Mancuso is a native of Chelmsford. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Fitchburg State University, where he also completed the Police Academy. He holds a certification from the Municipal Police Training Committee.  

Officer Mancuso is a certified EMT and has worked at Trinity EMS since 2020. While attending Fitchburg State University, he volunteered for campus EMS and assisted in responding to medical calls. 

He also is a decorated Boy Scout, holding Eagle Scout recognition. He has a passion for community service, and while a Boy Scout, has worked to provide food and care packages for those in need in Lowell.
