Wayland Fire Department Extinguishes Two-Alarm Fire on Highgate Road

WAYLAND — Chief Neil McPherson reports that the Wayland Fire Department extinguished a two-alarm fire Thursday evening. 

Just before 6 p.m., Wayland Fire received multiple 911 calls reporting smoke coming from a single-family home at 19 Highgate Road. 

First arriving crews encountered a fire in the kitchen area with extension into the walls and ceiling. A second-alarm response was requested, and the fire was quickly knocked down. There were no injuries. 

Mutual aid was provided by the Framingham, Weston, Natick, Sudbury and Lincoln Fire Departments. 

Damage to the home is estimated at approximately $100,000.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Wayland Fire Department and Fire District 14 Fire Investigation Team.
