Wayland Fire Department to Host Additional Free Community CPR Class

WAYLAND — Chief Neil McPherson is pleased to announce that the Wayland Fire Department is offering another free CPR course in recognition of American Heart Month this month due to overwhelming demand.

WHEN:

Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9-11 a.m.

WHERE:

Wayland Public Safety Building, 38 Cochituate Road

WHAT:

This class will cover adult and infant CPR and use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and will have an emphasis on hands-only compressions. It will also cover infant, child and adult choke training and more. The Department will follow curriculum set by the American Heart Association.

The course is open to residents of Wayland and those that work within Town. The course is ideal for community groups, parents, grandparents, caregivers, schools, students and anyone interested in learning how to save a life.

This course is intended for those who do not need a course completion card for a job or other requirements.

“The Wayland Fire Department is thrilled at the amount of interest the community has shown for our training programs these last several months because knowing CPR and AED techniques is extremely important,” Chief McPherson said. “It’s an added bonus that we can host another class during American Heart Month and bring awareness to that initiative.”

Those interested can register here or with the QR code below. Please note that the course is limited to the first 24 people that sign up.

More information about the course can be found here. For questions, please email Firefighter Mitch Mabardy at MMabardy@wayland.ma.us.

American Heart Month is observed to raise awareness of the importance of a healthy heart and to encourage healthy habits in an effort to reduce the risk of heart disease.
