The Academy Awards: the Good, the Bad, and the Outrageous
How did the Oscars get started? Which greats were never even nominated? What are some of the ceremony’s most famous (and infamous) moments? Who will win this year? Join film speaker, podcaster, and cable host Frank Mandosa as he answers these questions and more about Hollywood’s big night. Virtual Author Talk: Kim Scott and Radical Candor
You don’t have to choose between being a pushover and a jerk when it comes to managing people. Kim Scott, New York Times bestselling author, will explain the Radical Candor feedback framework. She’ll offer practical, tactical tips for how to solicit criticism, give praise and criticism, gauge how what you’re saying is landing, and build a culture of Radical Candor. Register. PlugIn to Climate Solutions
Explore Wayland’s plugIN initiative to help residents explore heat pumps, home and community solar, and our new program, Wayland Electricity Choice, to provide residents choices for greener energy. The town’s new Sustainability Manager, Abigail Shute, will answer questions and discuss exciting new state and federal financial incentives for climate-friendly actions. The Caregiver Journey: Ups, Downs, Obstacles, and Resources
An in-person, interactive presentation about the different paths one can take when it comes to being a primary caregiver, aging in place/non-medical home care services, and starting hospice/palliative care. Presenters include Ellie Anbinder of CareGivers-WellBeing, Angela Crocker and Niki Pugach from The Parmenter Foundation, and Vikki Levine from Ezra Home Care, LLC. Register. The Real Score: Unraveling Myths about Trans People in Sports
In this virtual presentation, transgender journalist Erin Reed will explore the complex and often misunderstood world of transgender athletes. She’ll address the myths and misinformation surrounding “biological advantages,” and interrogate how similar arguments have been historically used to marginalize other minority groups. She’ll also look at the real-world impact of these sports bans, and consider what transgender inclusion means for society at large. Register. Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
Great Presenters: Dr. John Dowd—What is Your Gut Telling You?
In this discussion during National Colon Cancer Awareness month, Dr. Dowd discuss several of the common gastrointestinal maladies, including colon cancer, the second-most common cause of cancer death in the United States. He’ll also discuss some of the more common reasons people are seen by gastrointestinal specialists and what it means when you have various GI symptoms. John Dowd is Medical Director of Endoscopy at Emerson Health Gastroenterology, renowned for his outstanding patient care. Register. Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m.

You are invited to an intimate conversation with Nina Totenberg, NPR’s veteran legal affairs correspondent, as she talks about her nearly fifty-year friendship with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and her book Dinners With Ruth: A Memoir on the Power of Friendships. The book also weaves together compelling, personal portraits of other fascinating people from Nina’s life, including her cherished NPR colleagues, Cokie Roberts and Linda Wertheimer. Register. Baby & Toddler Storytime

Chinese Storytime
