Arts Wayland Exhibit Artists Reception

The theme for this summer’s exhibit is “Here Comes the Sun.” Stop in to see the show, and discuss with the talented members of Arts Wayland themselves their interpretations. Refreshments provided. Wednesday, July 12 at 6 p.m.

Dystopian / Sci-Fi Book Group

Adult Craft: Pressed Flower Lanterns

SUMMER READING

Our 2023 Summer Reading Program Find Your Voice has started. Programming highlights include Digging up Fossils with Dr. Sandra Pearl; live animals with Joy from Joys of Nature, and a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, as well as many fun craft and STEM challenges. Kids can track their reading online or on paper logs to earn raffle tickets for prizes. Every child who registers can pick up a goody bag at the library!

The Teen Summer Reading Program has also started. Programming highlights for teens include make a wreck this journal, a beading workshop, and a Switch Tournament. Teens can also track their reading to earn raffle tickets for prizes.

The Massachusetts Statewide Summer Library Program is funded by the Friends of the Wayland Public Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners

Yoga with Little Beats

Outdoor Baby & Toddler Storytime with Ms. Carly

This storytime encourages early literacy and caregiver-child interactions with lively songs and rhymes, bounces, books, and body-awareness. Best for babies and toddlers, with caregiver.

Weather permitting, we will meet outdoors on the green lawn. Tuesdays, July 11, July 18, and July 25 at 10:30 a.m.

Outdoor Storytime with Ms. Pam

Join Ms. Pam for stories, songs, puppets, and activities. For ages 2.5 to 5 years with an adult. Please register. We will meet in the Children’s Room. Thursdays, July 6, July 13, and July 27 at 10:30 a.m.

Storytime with Obie the Dog

Children will listen to dog stories and have a chance to visit with Obie, a beautiful Samoyed. Obie will be accompanied by his owner Helen. We will meet in the Raytheon Room. For ages 3 and up, with an adult. Please register HERE. Monday, July 20, at 10:30 am.

Sing, Move, and Story!

Jodi Levin from Family ACCESS Community Connections will lead children in songs and movement, and will share a story! We will meet outside on the lawn. For ages 0-3. Please register HERE. Friday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m.

FOR ELEMENTARY AGE CHILDREN

Make a Bagel Face

Kids will make their own bagel faces! We will supply bagels, cream cheese, hummus, and fresh veggies. For ages 5 and up. Please register HERE. Thursday, July 6, at 3:30 p.m.

Kids Cooking Green: Fruit Tarts

Kids will make open-faced fruit tarts with a chef from Kids Cooking Green. The workshop will meet over Zoom. We will send out the recipe in advance so you can get the ingredients. For ages 4-7, with adult. Please register HERE. Friday, July 7, at 2:30 p.m.

Make Slime!

It’s gooey and fun to play with, and it’s physics and chemistry at work! Join Ms. Stephanie to make slime that you can bring home. For ages 4 and up, with caregiver. Please dress for mild mess. We will meet outside on the lawn. Please register HERE. Tuesday, July 11, at 3:30 p.m.

Digging Up Fossils

Kids will dig out a fossil, learn how they form, and examine fossils that are millions of years old. Participants will leave with a few investigator tools and a new appreciation for all things fossilized. Dr. Sandra Pearl from Seed will lead this program. For ages 5 and up, with caregiver. Make a Minion Brushbot

Kids will learn about simple circuits and make their own minion brushbots to take home. For ages 5 to 8, with caregiver. Please register HERE. Thursday, July 13, at 3:00 p.m.

Make a Wreck This Journal

Make a journal from scratch – and then wreck it! The idea is to create a book that has a different wild or creative prompt on each page. For teens in grades 6 and up. Please register HERE. Thursday, July 13, at 3:30 p.m.

Teens Helping Teens: Bookmarks for Incarcerated Teens

We will make bookmarks for incarcerated teens and talk about other ways to help marginalized peers in our community and beyond. After the program the bookmarks will be mailed to Liberation Library. For teens in grades 6 and up. Please register HERE. Thursday, July 20, at 3:30 p.m.
