Virtual Author Talk: Chef Jernard Wells and Southern Inspired

After growing up in Mississippi, Jernard Wells brought the familiar dishes and bold flavors of the African-American tradition with him on his culinary journey to become a chef, restaurateur, and TV host.  His newest cookbook shares 100 recipes that are approachable for both beginners and more experienced cooks.  Register for the webinar.  Tuesday, March 21 at 4 p.m.


Interrupting School-Based Microaggressions to Help Our Kids

Microaggressions are slights or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, made on the basis of the recipient’s marginalized group status (e.g. income, race, gender, disability, etc.).  They can be exhibited by students or adults in a school, making learning difficult. Palmistry

Diane DiPietro will cover some history of the origins and various uses for palmistry over many centuries. She will also give a brief description of the major lines on our hands and what they mean. Note: there will be no palm readings at this event.  Register to attend either in person or remotely.  Tuesday, March 28 at 7 p.m.

Author Talk: Beginning to End the Climate Crisis with Alexander Repenning

In this book, Repenning and co-author Luisa Neubauer weave in personal accounts of their evolution as climate activists with a thorough analysis of how climate change affects their generation, and what every one of us can and must do about it.  Repenning will be joined by translator and Brandeis professor Sabine von Mering.  Register.  Friday, March 31 at 3 p.m.

Toddler Stem with Ms. Leslie

Join Ms. Leslie for some fun, hands-on science activities. This month we are exploring magnets. Registration required. For ages 2-4 years with a caregiver. Wednesday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m.

Comics Making Workshop Series with Jonathan Todd

In this 4-part Comics Making Workshop, tweens will learn how to create and design characters for a graphic novel story, how to develop a story arc, how to turn a true event into a graphic narrative, how to create thumbnail sketches and drawings, as well as how to correct errors.
