Wayland Police Department Investigating Antisemitic Vandalism

Acting Chief Ed Burman reports that the Wayland Police Department is investigating an incident of antisemitic vandalism.

At 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, Wayland Police received reports of vandalism on Rice Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered that large swastikas had been painted in two separate places on the roadway.

The Wayland Department of Public Works was called to the scene to cover the paint.

Wayland Police detectives are actively investigating this incident and are working in partnership with the Massachusetts State Police Fusion Center.

Anyone with information or who noticed suspicious activity in the area of Rice Road is asked to call Wayland Police Department at 508-358-4721 or the Anonymous Tip Line at 508-358-1726.

“There is no place for this kind of hatred and bigotry in our community,” said Acting Chief Burman. “Every resident deserves to live their life free of harassment and hatred, and we will do everything in our power to support our community.”

Acting Chief Burman has been in contact with the Anti-Defamation League New England, whose leadership team will support the Department and community during this investigation.
