Wayland Free Public Library Events — Week of Feb. 12, 2024

ADULT SERVICES

Author Talk: Joel F. Johnson and Never

In this debut novel, Johnson’s narrator recalls coming of age in the fictional town of LaSalle, Georgia, a place notorious in the history of the civil rights movement, where three families struggle to keep their footing in a crumbling society.  Johnson is a graduate of Harvard College and the author of a collection of poems.  Presented by the Wayland Free Public Library and the Wayland Human Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.  RegisterWednesday, February 14 at 7 p.m.

Virtual Author Talk: Jason Mott and Hell of a Book

Winner of the 2021 National Book Award and NY Times bestseller, Mott’s hilarious, heartbreaking, scalding novel follows a Black author on a book tour, accompanied by a boy who may or may not be real.  Deeply honest and electrically funny, it goes to the heart of the hidden costs exacted upon Black Americans and America as a whole.  Register.  Tuesday, February 20 at 4 p.m.

Virtual Author Talk: Peter Bellerby and The Globemakers

When Peter Bellerby set out to make a globe for his father’s eightieth birthday, after failing to find a suitable one to purchase, it led him to establish Bellerby & Co, one of the only artisan globemakers in the world. Come inside Bellerby’s gorgeous studio to learn how he and his team of cartographers and artists bring these stunning celestial, terrestrial, and planetary objects to life.  Register.  Thursday, February 22 at 2 p.m.

We have tax forms (mostly)!

We have 1040 Instructions and MA Form 1s on hand, ready for you to pick up.  The Form 1040s should be in by the end of the week, but we can easily print one out for you, free of charge.  Just ask at either the main desk or the Reference Desk.
